Numerology: The Ancient Personality Test You Didn’t Know You Were Already Taking

Some people find numerology after a breakup. Some find it when they’re questioning their entire career. Some find it because a friend will not stop talking about their life path number. And some of you are here because your life keeps repeating the same patterns and you’re starting to get suspicious.

Numerology is one of those subjects that gets presented in two equally unhelpful ways. Either it’s treated like mystical secret knowledge that requires a robe and a candle, or it gets reduced to a three-line TikTok telling you that your life path number explains your entire personality.
It’s more interesting than either of those.
At its simplest, numerology is a symbolic system that uses numbers derived from your birth date and name to explore personality, recurring themes, timing and life cycles. It doesn’t tell you what is going to happen on Thursday at 3pm. It gives you a framework for noticing patterns.
